Aga saves 2 MPs, battles past McHale
2012 Wimbledon finalist Agnieszka rallied from a set down and had to save two match points en-route to a 5-7, 7-6 (7), 6-3 victory over Christina McHale on Thursday.
The Pole survived the dangerous American to secure her progress to The Championships third round in two hours and 42 minutes.
Aga, seeded ninth, found a way to move past McHale, though she lost the opening set. The Krakow native had saved two match points in the second set tie-break, before winning it to level the contest. She broke her rival twice in the deciding third set, in the third and ninth games, and sealed the hard-fought win.
Stats: aces (6-5), double faults (2-3), winners (26-50), unforced errors (14-42), total points won (116-104).
