Seoul: Aga edges Mattek-Sands
Agnieszka made a winning start to her week at the KEB Hana Bank Korea Open with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Bethanie Mattek-Sands on Tuesday.
Aga was the first to fall behind a break in the opener as the American broke in the seventh game to lead 4-3. However, the former titlist quickly settled in from there, winning the next three games to take the set.
The second set followed a similar pattern, with Mattek-Sands breaking first in the third game and Aga fighting back in the sixth to level. This time, the American broke once more and was serving for the set, but the Pole regrouped in time to level the contest again at 5-5. The 2013 champion earned another break point in the 12th game and successfully wrapped up the victory after one hour and 37 minutes of play.

Agnieszka will next face either no.7 seed Irina-Camelia Begu (ROU) or Mona Barthel (GER, Q).
